Announcements:
It has been a couple of weeks since we had service and hopefully we can have it tomorrow. We will end our series on Strongholds tomorrow, so please go over all the material (handouts) that we have studied. Also make it your business to be in prayer tomorrow morning because there are few things I want the church to touch and agree on.
Today’s Message:
“Free From My Past (Notes)”
Key Verse: Galatians 5:1
1. According to Galatians 5:1 what is the purpose of being free?
2. How do we remain free from those Strongholds that we have identified with?
3. What does it mean to walk in the Spirit?
4. Does every believer have the Spirit (Romans 8:9)?
Walking the in the Spirit has to be more than just reading, praying and coming to church. I believe walking in the spirit is, but not limited to them. Like I said, these things are preparing us for victory. The real victory is when we learn to live in these and not just practice them from time to time. If we’re going to walk in the spirit one of the first things that we need is a consciousness of God of to be God-conscious. There has to be a constant awareness of God.
5. Is it possible to walk in the Spirit and fulfill the lust of the flesh at the same time? Why or Why not?
6. (Turn to Matthew 6:24, 1 Corinthians 10:2, Romans 6:16)
7. What does it mean to keep in step with the Spirit?
There are symphonic harmonies or some type of harmonious arrangement in the realm that we as believers are on one accord with the rhythm of the Spirit (Acts 2: Day of Pentecost, all were on one accord with the Spirit.)
8. According to Galatians 5:19-21, those who practice those that Paul listed be considered someone who is being led by the Spirit?
9. Greek word for practice is Prasso- connotation of preforming repeatedly or to commit habitually.
Look at this list closely and be honest with yourself. Are there strongholds that have been developed in your life because of the repeated practice? If so, how can you say you are walking in the Spirit? If God were to show the world how you really live, would people say that they could see Christ in you? What would they say?
If the church is not going to march to the drum of the Spirit, then it might as well close the doors and join the parade of the world.
